Computer Zone opened its doors for trading on 27 December 1999 from Shop 26, Helderberg Village Walk, Main Road, Somerset West. Everything “pc-related” except for training was catered for. This included internet access, LAN gaming, selling new and used hardware, repairs, upgrades and selling software.
After two and a half years at shop 26, Computer Zone moved to shop 16 and 17, Helderberg Village Walk, Main Road, Somerset West. The move was primarily motivated by space constraints (40m2 to 76m2) and the need for a separate room for gamers who wanted more “all-nighters”. SEE “PHOTOS” Section.
At the beginning of 2004, a proposal was put in to have Computer Zone open an internet cafe in the Somerset Mall, after finding out the third phase of the Someret Mall would be an “entertainment area”. The proposal was acceapted and on 1 November 2004, Computer Zone opened up at Shop 325, Somerset Mall, Somerset West.
In January 2005, Computer Zone closed its doors at Shop 16 and 17, Helderberg Village Walk, and began its focus on being an “internet cafe”, with specific emphasis on LAN gaming.
Shop 325 Somerset Mall covers an area of 61,2m2. There are 18 pcs for public use. For prices see “prices” section. There are over 200 original PC games to choose from, a nescafe coin operated coffee vending machine, and a HP “all-in-one” lazer MFP in the store for customer use.
